What we do
Wheels off, problem found, back on the road
Passenger & light truck tires
New tires for the daily driver, the work van and the half-ton, mounted and balanced on the machine, with fresh valve stems and lug nuts torqued to spec.
Trailer, farm & odd sizes
Utility trailers, boat trailers, equipment and implement rubber. Call with the numbers off the sidewall and we'll tell you what we have on the shelf or what we can get in.
Flat repair
If the puncture sits in the repairable part of the tread, we patch it properly from the inside. If it's in the shoulder or sidewall, we'll tell you straight that it can't be trusted.
Rotation, balance & pressure
Cupping, feathering and a shimmy at highway speed usually start as a rotation and balance problem. We check tread depth and set pressures for what you actually haul.
Brakes & general repair
Once the wheel is off, brakes, hardware and the rest of the corner are easy to look at. We do the repair work that comes with the territory.
Parts over the counter
Everyday parts for the job you're already doing in your own driveway. Ask at the counter before you make the drive toward Richmond for it.
How the work goes
Nobody sells you four tires over the phone
A tire that looks fine from the driver's seat can be worn flat on the inside edge, dry-cracked between the treads, or plugged from a previous repair that never should have been made. So the first thing that happens is the wheel comes off and gets looked at in the light. Then you get told what we found, what it needs now and what can wait — before anything is mounted. If the tire on your car still has honest miles left in it, that's what we'll say.
- Tread depth and wear pattern read on all four
- Mounted, balanced and torqued to spec
- New valve stem with every new tire
- Pressures set for the load you carry
- A plain answer on what's worn and what isn't
What customers report on Google
Aylett, King William County
A tire shop on the road you already drive
We're on West River Road in Aylett, which means most of the vehicles that come through here work for a living. Trucks pulling equipment, cars putting highway miles on every week, trailers that sat in a field all winter and now need to make it to the landing. Tires get used hard out here, and they wear in ways that tell you something about the road and the load.
That's the kind of work this shop is set up for: getting the right rubber on the rim, getting it balanced so it rides straight, and being honest about what a tire has left. If we can save you the price of a new one with a proper repair, we will. If we can't, you'll hear why.
The fastest way to sort it out is a phone call. Tell us the vehicle and the size off the sidewall, and we'll tell you what's available and when we can get you in the bay.
Questions we get at the counter
Put a penny in the tread groove with Lincoln's head down — if you can see the top of his head, you're at or below two thirty-seconds and the tire is done. Also look for the wear bars across the tread, cracks in the rubber, and one edge worn smoother than the other. Bring it by and we'll measure it.
It depends entirely on where the hole is. Punctures in the middle of the tread can usually be repaired properly from the inside. Anything in the sidewall or the outer shoulder, or a tire that's been driven flat and chewed up inside, is not safe to repair and we won't pretend otherwise.
Call and read us the numbers on the sidewall — something like 235/75R15 or LT265/70R17 — along with the year and model. We'll tell you what's on the shelf and what we can order in.
Trailer and equipment sizes are part of the work here. Get the size and load range off the tire if you can, or off the trailer's data plate, and call before you haul it over.
Yes — brake and general repair work, and parts over the counter. If you're not sure whether a job is something we take on, the phone call costs you nothing.
Call before you make the drive
One phone call tells you whether your size is here, what the repair looks like and when there's room in the bay. That beats sitting in a waiting room hoping.
